At that time, I carry it in my photo bag along with the other Canon prime lenses and I used it regularly, sometimes with the Tamron 2x multiplier, with fantastic results. I kept this lens ever since, also because it was so BEAUTIFUL! A few years after turning to digital, I realized that I could use this lens again on my Canon 5dII using a proper adaptor. And the quality is still there!... Surely, now there are more quality lenses in the market, but I think the Tamron 180 retains a special ‘atmosphere’. The obvious problem is focusing manually and using it in stop-down mode. So it is not for fast action, also because, as other readers have pointed out, it has a super smooth focus ring which is not the best feature for a fast focus. Nonetheless, it’s a great lens!strawberryfieldshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01809041129730627341noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8553095084714187596.post-86694070560475521872014-06-11T17:25:10.822-05:002014-06-11T17:25:10.822-05:00I bought this lens used years ago and have always ...I bought this lens used years ago and have always liked it a great deal. My copy has a very smooth focus ring with damping such that it rotates very easily, too easily in my opinion. I am wondering if this is what other users mean by it focusing too fast and smoothly. Is this normal for this lens, or is this just my copy? I find it too easy to accidentally move the focus ring and defocus the image when taking a photo.Jason Chttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01890262275841346590noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8553095084714187596.post-69514556290529711862012-03-08T19:40:22.603-06:002012-03-08T19:40:22.603-06:00I too own this lens. Definitely not for action shots.

michael.young@streetperfect.com

PS: wish I had the brown leather bag...that's cool.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8553095084714187596.post-77363546136674282402011-06-20T14:07:16.641-05:002011-06-20T14:07:16.641-05:00This is a legendary piece of glass. However I find the excursion of the focus ring calibrated too fast and too smooth; I easily loose the plane of focus and need to refocus frequently. I realize that my opinion may be spoiled by my experience with modern autofocus lenses. At any rate, though I would not use this lens for action shots, with static or collaborative subjects it gives lots of satisfaction.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8553095084714187596.post-9584013008565022092011-01-09T16:40:20.858-06:002011-01-09T16:40:20.858-06:00hello,david.here are the photos.

Stunning build, great handling, slightly soft wide open but excellent as soon as you stop down. Not only is it sharp, but it also provides excellent colour and contrast which is notably superior to my other telephoto primes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8553095084714187596.post-32795298086503943162010-05-25T03:34:45.255-05:002010-05-25T03:34:45.255-05:00I was there when you bought this little guy.I was there when you bought this little guy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
